The pistachio nut sorter separates the open from the closed nuts with an accuracy of 98%. The process of sorting the open from the closed pistachio nuts takes place right after drying and cleaning processes. The pistachio nuts enter the sorter through the inlet hopper using a bucket elevator (optional), the nuts are then carried onto a series of rotating pinned rolls which carry out the sorting process. The first outlet is for the foreign materials and half shells, the second is for open pistachios and finally the last is where closed nuts exit the device. The outlets can accommodate shallow crates. Optionally elevators can be connected to outlets for storing into silos.
